CHAPTER THIRTY THREE – SPIN AROUND THE BLOCK
Cassie carefully maneuvered the car out of the garage and onto the city streets. At first, she drove cautiously, hyper-aware of every other vehicle around them.
"Relax, Cass," Jenna said. "You're driving like my grandma."
Cassie laughed, some of the tension leaving her shoulders. "Sorry, I just don't want to scratch it on my first day."
As they hit the highway, Cassie gradually became more comfortable with the car's handling. She pressed down on the accelerator, feeling the surge of power as the car responded.
"Now we're talking!" Jenna whooped.
The city flew by in a blur as Cassie pushed the car to its limits. For the first time since this whirlwind began, she felt truly free.
"This is amazing!" she shouted over the rush of wind through the open windows.
After about an hour of driving, Cassie reluctantly steered the car back towards the city.
"We should probably head back," she said. "I start work tomorrow, and I need to get ready."
