ELIZA’S POV
The training field was just starting to stir when I arrived. It was filled with warriors sparring with each other.
I stood on the edge for a moment, watching.
The field hadn’t changed much. Still the same layout. Still the same routines. Still the same problem.
Male warriors filled the grounds—sweating, fighting, yelling commands. It reminded me of when I used to sneak down here just to watch them in my father’s pack.
When I was younger. When I had dreams too big for a woman.
I turned my head and my chest tightened.
On the far side of the field, near the fence, I noticed a group of she-wolves near the shade.
They looked like they were interested in the training. I could see it in their eyes. I could tell more than anyone.
None of them wore armor. None of them held weapons. They were dressed in tunics and aprons.
Carrying baskets of herbs, water, bandages.
Support roles.
Cooks. Healers. Messengers.
