I sat on the high-backed chair carved from black stone. I clenched the armrest, but my mind was spinning in different directions.
Natalie.
The little wolf carried a child now.
My lips curved into a cruel smile. Her blood was once pure, once untamed. Now, it was was no longer untouched. Now, it was mingled with another life inside her belly.
Contaminated. Weakening. Vulnerable.
Perfect.
I leaned back, closing my eyes, savoring the thought.
She thought she was safe under Liam’s protection, embraced by his love. How sweet. How foolish.
Every heartbeat that grew inside her was one step closer to me claiming her.
