NATALIE’S POV
Time blurred together in the dungeon.
I didn’t know how many days had passed since Memphis threw me in here. The air was always damp.
The stones were always cold, and the shadows never moved. I curled up on the hard floor most of the time, cradling my belly, whispering to my babies.
They were the only thing keeping me from breaking.
“My little ones,” I murmured softly, brushing my hand over my stomach. “Mommy’s still here. Daddy’s going to come for us. He always does. You just have to stay strong for me, okay?”
Sometimes I smiled just imagining Liam’s face, his arms around me, his warmth. But the smile never lasted long, not in this place.
Fear was a constant feeling in my chest, and I rarely ate the disgusting meals they shoved through the bars.
My appetite had vanished.
