Chapter 8- The lunch date

Emily and Alex sat down at a cozy table in the fantasy restaurant. The room was filled with soft music and the smell of delicious food. Their waiter came over and took their order. "Good day sir, Good day ma'am. May I take your order." Alex smiled at Emily and said, "I would like to order my wife's favorite food. Chicken parmesan with spaghetti and garlic bread please." Emily's eyes lit up for a moment, and she smiled slightly. " You remembered. How sweet. Thank you, Alex." "Of course I did." He turned to the waiter."I'll have the same." "Alright." And with that the waiter left. As they waited for their food to arrive, Alex noticed how quiet Emily was. She seemed lost in thought, staring off into space. "Hey sunshine, is everything okay? You seemed a bit sad." Alex asked, trying to break the silence. Emily snapped back to reality and forced a smile on her face. "Oh me? Yeah, I'm fine. Um, everything's fine." Their food arrived, and Emily took a bite of her chicken parmesan. Her eyes widened slightly, and she nodded in approval. "Hmmm, this is really good, this is really good. I love it." Alex smiled, remembering their first date. They had gone to a similar Italian restaurant, and Emily had ordered the same dish. He had been impressed by her appetite and her love for good food. As they ate, Alex tried to make conversation, but Emily remained quiet. He could tell something was bothering her, but he didn't know what. He had to make her talk. After they finished their meal, Alex reached across the table and took her hand. "What's wrong, Emily, my sunshine? You've been quiet all day." Emily looked up at him, her eyes searching. "Well, I don't know, Alex. I just feel like something's off. Although confusing at the same time." Alex's expression turned serious "What do you mean?" Emily looked at him with a serious expression. "Do you love me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Alex's eyes widened in surprise. "Of course, I love you," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "That's why we got married, isn't it?" Emily nodded, her eyes still searching and hoping it was true. "I know, but I need to hear it from you. Sometimes I feel like...I don't know, like you're not really here with me." Alex's expression softened as he reached out to take Emily's hand. "I'm here, Emily. I love you, and I'm committed to our marriage. I know i always busy but I try my best to make time for you." Emily took a deep breath and asked another question. "Is there anything you want to tell me, Alex? Anything you might have...lied about?" Alex's eyes flickered, and he looked away for a moment. "What are you talking about, Emily?" he asked, sounding a little too casual. "I don't know, Alex. That's why I'm asking. Is everything okay? Are you hiding something from me? Is there something I should know about. I won't be angry. I promise." This made Alex smiled. As took Emily's hand, he said "I love you, Emily and i know you know. You're my wife, my best friend. I don't know what I'd do without you." Emily's eyes softened, and she smiled back at Alex. "I love you too, Alex." Her heart was racing this time with a blush rising to her cheeks. Alex's eyes sparkled with memories. "Do you remember when we first met?" he asked, his voice filled with nostalgia. Emily nodded, a faraway look in her eyes. "Of course, I do. I could never forget how you had spilled coffee all over me." Alex chuckled. "I was so clumsy. But I was also really nervous. I mean, i had never seen anyone as beautiful as you before." Emily blushed, and Alex continued. "And do you remember our first date? We went to that Italian restaurant, and you ordered the same thing you're eating now." Emily laughed. "Chicken parmesan. I remember. You were impressed by my appetite. I think I finished about two plate or so, I was so so hungry after a long day." Alex grinned. "I was, you foodie. And I was also impressed by your sense of humor. You made me laugh so much that night, whenever I think of it, I just keep laughing." Emily's eyes sparkled with memories. "I remember. You told me that joke about the chicken and the egg." Alex chuckled. "Yeah, I did. And you laughed so hard that you snorted your drink out your nose." Emily giggled, "alright, alright. The joke got me then tho." "And then there was our first vacation together." Alex continued "We went to the beach, and you got sunburned." Emily laughed. "Oh yeah. I was lobster-red for days." Alex smiled, his eyes filled with love. "I loved taking care of you that week. You were so miserable, but you were also so beautiful." "I love you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She couldn't help but smile at him, she was worrying over nothing. Alex smiled back"I love you too, Emily," he said, reaching out to take her hand. They sat there for a moment, holding hands and looking into each other's eyes. Then Alex spoke up again. "Emily, I wanted to tell you something. I've been thinking a lot about my PA, Emilia..." he started. Emily's eyes narrowed slightly, her grip on his hand tightening. Alex continued, "I've decided to remove her as my PA. I know you were uncomfortable with her, and I don't want anything to come between us." Emily's expression softened, and she looked at Alex with surprise and relief. "Really? You'd do that for me?" she asked. Alex nodded. "Of course, Emily. You're my wife, my priority. I don't want anything to make you feel uncomfortable or unsure." Emily smiled, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Thank you, Alex. That means a lot to me." His words and actions had at least cleared off some of the doubt she had but some wierd feelings still lingered but for now he had given her a little assurance. All she wanted to focus on now was making this lunch with Alex memorable and special. At least after a while he was finally treating her like she meant something and that she mattered and that's all she actually wanted from him. He took things a step further by feeding her and she felt a bit shy being fed in public, she could hear whispers as people admired them calling them a couple deeply in love and hearing that made her beam with smiles. Alexander, the man she fell in love with was such a lover.
