After more than ten hours of flying, Elise finally stepped off the plane. Out of the airport, a sharp chill made her shiver.
Her injuries hadn't fully healed. Her body had weakened over the past few years. Even with all the supplements and nourishing foods she'd been fed at home, she remained sensitive to the cold.
She shrank her neck into her scarf. Just when she was about to call for a car, a thick coat was gently draped over her shoulders.
Startled, she flinched and instinctively stepped back a few paces. When she turned around, she was met with a familiar face.
"Jay…"
A wave of emotion welled up inside her, stinging her nose. She tried to speak, but the lump in her throat choked off any words.
The next moment, she was pulled into a warm embrace.
Above her head came a faint sigh and a voice that trembled slightly despite the man's attempt at control.
