Once they got to the hospital, Charisse was quickly put on an IV drip. But she still wasn't waking up, her brows tightly furrowed—clearly not sleeping peacefully.
They were in a premium ward, and a nurse in her forties or fifties was assigned to the room.
Seeing the tear-streaked mess on Charisse's face, the nurse brought over a basin of warm water to clean her up.
Before she could start, Elliot took the towel from her hands. "I'll do it."
"Oh, alright." The nurse stepped aside, watching him from the side.
She let out a soft sigh. "This girl is so thin, no wonder her health's not great."
"Yeah, it's not," Elliot replied quietly. "She's been in and out of the hospital a few times."
Whether it was cramps or a fever, she would end up passing out. The doctor said it was severe anemia—her body just didn't have enough energy. He couldn't figure out how she let herself get this bad. What kind of life had she been living all these years?
