Chapter 226 Why Can't She Understand

Emily pulled her luggage bag into her apartment. She then opened it and hung up what little clothes she had brought with her into the closet. Her movements were neither hurried or slow. After all, she was free from the complicated issues and people at the villa, and she no longer felt like she was being crushed by a suffocating weight. Finally, she felt like she could breathe again. When Emily was done, she pushed the empty luggage into the corner. However, she had just straightened up when someone rang her doorbell. She paused for a moment, unsurprised. She walked over to the door, looked through the peephole, and saw Gabriel anxiously standing outside. Calmly, she opened the door. Gabriel was gasping for breath as he stood outside the door. His black shirt was slightly disheveled from how he had run all the way from the villa to the apartment, and his fringe was a mess from being buffeted by the night breeze. The panic in his eyes faded slightly when he saw Emily standing b
