The day has come.
I am standing in a room full of makeup tools, hair sprays, pins, brushes, curling irons, and soft chiffon scattered around the floor. My wedding dress is hanging by the window, catching the golden morning light. It looks so pristine. So perfect. Too perfect.
I can’t breathe.
Everything feels so surreal, yet so heavy.
It’s getting real. This is really happening. I’m getting married.
My heart beats a little too fast, not in excitement, but in something else. Something heavier. I stare at the reflection in the mirror—bare-faced, hair still undone, a version of myself that feels like she’s watching someone else’s life unfold.
“Hey, are you okay?”
Cindy’s voice pulls me back. She comes up beside me, offering a reassuring smile. Her tone is light, but her eyes search mine, worried.
“Is it too late to ask for that getaway?” I mutter, only half-joking.
She chuckles, nudging me lightly. “Girl, if you told me last night, I would’ve had the car packed
