Once I am out of sight from the guest, the sickly sweet smile I had plastered on my face was long gone. I know my mother and probably Andrieux family are wondering where I am going and even Nicholas, but right now I don’t care what they are thinking.
I needed to get away before I lost my composure entirely.
My heart pounding with frustration, and I can feel that a headache will appear if I stay here for another hour.
I made my way to the room where I had gotten ready earlier. The second I stepped inside, I slammed the door shut behind me and exhaled a deep breath, trying to steady myself.
But the moment the air filled my lungs, frustration clawed its way back up my throat.
"Damn it!" I cursed aloud, my voice echoing in the empty room.
I paced back and forth, running a hand through my hair. Tonight had been exhausting. Fake smiles, fake affection, fake everything. And now, I had to deal with the fact that Nicholas had been keeping secrets—important ones.
