Chapter 61 Eventful Day
Alicia Davenport
I found myself smiling, rereading the text from Nicholas.
It was ridiculous, really. I had texted him earlier, telling him that I got the offer from Mr. Laquan. Of course, he didn’t answer right away. I knew he saw the notification, but knowing Nicholas and his massive ego, he probably purposefully delayed his response.
But when he finally did reply?
Nicholas: Try not to let it go to your head.
I shook my head, suppressing a chuckle. Who knew Mr. Andrieux had a sense of humor?
Did something happen at the Andrieux Corporation to put him in a good mood? Maybe he secured a major deal?
“Alicia, why are you smiling?”
I turned my head slightly to the driver’s side, meeting Daniel’s curious gaze.
My smile immediately dropped.
Crap.
I threw him a small, practiced smile. “Oh, my client texted me. He liked my design and wants to use my service.”
Daniel nodded, his expression softening. “That’s great. Congratulations.”
“Thanks.”
The word tasted bitter in my mouth.
