AUBREY'S POV "Wake up, little wolf." The gentle voice penetrated my dreams, but I burrowed deeper into the warmth of my blankets, the silk sheets soft against my skin. "Five more minutes," I mumbled, pulling a pillow over my head to block out the intrusion of morning. "If you don't get up," Knox warned, amusement clear in his voice, "I'm going to carry you downstairs." I responded with a string of muffled curses, my voice thick with sleep. The bed was too comfortable, too warm to leave. But before I could properly protest, strong arms slid under me. The world tilted as Knox hoisted me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, blanket and all. "Knox!" I yelped, suddenly very awake. "Put me down!" I wriggled against his grip, but he only tightened his hold, his hands warm and secure against my legs. He patted my backside playfully, the gesture both affectionate and teasing.
