The clink of glasses and murmur of voices became too much, pressing against my skull like a physical weight. I slipped away from the party, stepping out onto the terrace where the cool night air offered blessed relief. The moon hung full and heavy above, casting silver light over the manicured gardens below.
My fingers traced the cold stone balustrade as I tried to organize my thoughts. Tomorrow. Everything would change tomorrow.
