Katelyn’s POV The sky was clear and blue the morning of the parent-child sports day. School buzzed with the excited voices of children, parents gathering near the school gates, and the view of balloons tied to the fence. As soon as we stepped out of the car, Lucas grabbed both my hand and Ethan’s. He practically bounced on his feet, his energy was high. He was really excited, but I was a little bit nervous unsure how the day would unfold with Ethan by my side in front of all these families. Even before we got inside his class, Lucas transformed into a loudspeaker, a one-boy welcoming committee. Every time we met a group of students, teachers, or parents, he’d announce in his clear, happy voice, “This is my mom, Katelyn, and my dad, Ethan! Aren’t they beautiful and handsome?” He was so proud, his little face glowing with a wide smile, not a single doubt in his eyes.For a second, I wished I could bottle that kind of confidence.
