Though Kaia had long known they didn't care about her, Benedict's words still pierced her heart. He couldn't even pretend to love her, not even for a moment.
At least she hid it well. No one could see the pain she carried inside, hidden beneath her stubborn exterior.
"Fine," she said flatly.
Benedict frowned. "What did you say?"
Lifting her gaze, Kaia looked steadily at the family of four standing on the second floor and repeated, calm and firm. "Fine. I'll leave the Larson residence now.
"From today onward, I sever all ties with the Larsons. Mr. Larson, Mrs. Larson—rest assured, I will never bother you again."
No way was she coming back. She'd rather die elsewhere, she thought grimly. With that, she felt no lingering attachment to this place.
