Tristan hung up the phone without hesitation and turned to Megan. "That guy's a real snake—talks smack about me the minute your back's turned. He may look soft and harmless, like someone all the aunties would love, but don't let that fool you."
Megan nodded obediently but wrinkled her nose. "Yuck, you've smoked at least five cigarettes, haven't you?"
Tristan gently tapped her nose. "You've got a dog's nose for smell. I'm heading for a shower now."
As he disappeared into the bathroom, Megan stared at the door for a while, her thoughts drifting.
Something had felt off with Tristan lately.
Nathaniel had been handed over to military court. The charges were severe enough that he was sentenced to death and stripped of all political rights for life. The execution was scheduled for the tenth day of the new lunar year.
