These past few days had been pure agony for Evan.
He spent his nights drinking, his phone clutched tightly in his hand. The screen still displayed that one message that he must have read a thousand times by now.
"Let's end this, Evan. I don't love you anymore."
Every time Evan looked at it, Joselyn's bright, smiling eyes flashed through his mind. It was like she'd been etched into his memory, impossible to erase.
No matter if he was awake or asleep, all he could think about was her. Her figure, her voice, and even the faint scent she carried wrapped around him like invisible chains, holding him captive.
Evan had never imagined he could end up like this.
He used to be untouchable and ruthless. He was the kind of man who'd do whatever it took to get revenge. And yet now, he was nothing more than a broken, drunken mess, drowning in alcohol and memories.
He didn't understand why it hurt so much. Joselyn was gone, but her absence felt like it had hollowed him out.
