Chapter 185: Joanna is Reborn
After speaking, Mr. Turner smiled and walked away with his hands behind his back.
Joanna looked up and saw the anxious expression on Faure's face. She lowered her gaze, appearing saddened. "Mr. Turner clearly doesn't like me, does he?"
She mistook Faure's nervousness for a sign that his family didn't like her, and assumed that was why he felt guilty around her.
What Joanna didn’t realize was that Faure’s panic was actually because of his older brother, Hausman, who was leaning against the doorframe of the suite on the second floor.
What? Wasn’t his brother supposed to be inside the room?
And why doesn’t he ever close the door? Seriously, big brother, respect your privacy! If you had closed the door, you wouldn’t have heard the door opening!
Faure felt like crying.
This was a disaster.
Hausman observed the changes in their expressions from the second floor, taking it all in.
Of course, he was upset that Faure was associating with Joanna again. But seeing his little brother’s obvious anxiety and guilt at the sight of him actually made Hausman feel a bit relieved.
At least he’s still scared.
It seems he doesn't like Joanna that much after all.
This meant his teachings hadn’t been completely in vain!
Having seen enough, Hausman leisurely walked downstairs with a book in hand. He spoke as he descended, "You’re overthinking it. My father doesn’t even know who you are. Why do you care so much about my father liking you? Could it be that you’re...?"
Before he could finish, Joanna, her face flushed red, interrupted him. "Enough! I am not!"
Faure was taken aback.
He had never seen Joanna lose her composure before. She had always maintained that air of elegance. Seeing her like this made his small infatuation with her start to crumble.
In truth, it wasn’t entirely Joanna’s fault.
Hausman’s words were crude; he was implying that Joanna was interested in their father, perhaps even wanting to become Faure’s stepmother.
It wasn’t surprising that Joanna reacted so strongly.
Joanna, holding her purse, turned and stormed out, her eyes brimming with unshed tears.
She looked pitiful.
If Joanna left like this, it wouldn’t be long before rumors spread that the Turner family had bullied her.
But Hausman was in no hurry. He took a sip of his tea, completely at ease.
Sure enough.
The soft-hearted and easily swayed Faure quickly ran after her. "Miss Joanna, Miss Joanna, my brother didn’t mean it!"
Faure really was a bit naive.
He didn’t fully understand what his brother had implied, but he knew it wasn’t good.
Joanna had no intention of actually leaving.
She was merely putting on a show, hitting Faure lightly with her designer purse. Faure, thinking she was truly angry, didn’t dare stop her, and she ended up leaving for real.
This infuriated Joanna to no end.
The tears she had forced out were gone in an instant.
Hausman, satisfied with the performance, returned to Faure’s room, a smile playing on his lips.
When Faure returned, dejected, he breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the empty living room.
Thank goodness, it seems my brother has decided to let it go.
But as soon as he opened the door to his room and saw Hausman sitting on his bed with a cold smirk, Faure panicked and tried to run.
Unfortunately for him, there was no escaping Hausman.
Hausman grabbed him by the collar and dragged him back inside.
The details of how Hausman dealt with his brother don’t need to be elaborated on. Meanwhile, outside the hotel, Joanna’s face darkened.
Hausman had been far too disrespectful!
After all, she had paid for their stay at the hotel!
Joanna opened her phone to check her bank account balance, hoping to find something she could use against them later.
But when she checked, her eyes widened in shock.
No wonder they were so arrogant.
It turns out the Turner family had refunded every penny she had paid for the hotel.
Joanna, who had been seething with anger, now felt a bit deflated.
Her expression shifted several times before settling on one of hatred.
They all look down on me!
Just wait and see how I deal with them in the future!
Joanna took a deep breath.
Never mind.
Now that she had connections with both the Raphael family and the Norman family, she didn’t need the Turners!
In the capital, there were plenty of people she could rely on.
The Turners?
Humph, they might be something in City A, but let’s see how they fare in the capital!
See if anyone even knows who they are!
Earlier, she had overheard the old man mention "Irene" and "grades" while chatting with someone at the door.
So it’s true that hillbilly is doing terribly in school, so much so that even those of us vacationing in the capital know about it.
Serves her right.
But Joanna no longer cared about such things.
Since asking about Irene’s grades last time, she hadn’t paid attention to her at all.
If she could so easily discard the Kashi family, what was Irene to her, someone she considered worthless?
Someone without any value wasn’t even worth a glance.
Just as she was thinking this, her phone rang.
It was Mrs. Raphael.
Now, that was a connection to a powerful family!
Yes, Stefan might be in the spotlight now, but only Joanna knew that in a few years, Stefan would die under mysterious circumstances!
After that, the Mosinaghan family would fall into decline!
The Mosinaghan family had always been held up by Stefan alone. With him gone, the family, lacking deep roots and a large population, would be quickly carved up by other powerful families.
No one knew this except Joanna!
In the previous life, that person had simply been luckier than her by a small margin.
In this life, it was her turn to enjoy the wealth and power!
Outside, the sky was gradually darkening.
In the night, a light rain began to fall, and the cool wind blew, chilling to the bone.
Irene closed the window and sat by the hospital bed.
Itha had been sleeping for the past two days, waking up only briefly.
Assistant Barton was very worried, but there was nothing he could do except call for a doctor.
Even the doctors didn’t know what was causing this.
Thankfully, Irene was there to explain that it was a side effect of the medication.
Assistant Barton was aware that Miss Irene had many secrets.
He hadn’t pried before because Miss Irene was a stranger and had saved the Seventh Young Master, making it impolite and inappropriate to ask questions.
Now, he had to be even more careful.
Miss Irene had been missing from the family for many years, and they knew it was the family's fault for losing her. They were always worried that Miss Irene might hold a grudge against the family, so they were in a state of trying to fulfill her every wish, even more cautious about not asking anything.
They could only wait for Miss Irene to share things with them voluntarily.
Assistant Barton was still in a bit of a daze.
Previously, he had considered asking Miss Irene to help find the missing Eighth Young Miss.
Little did he expect that Miss Irene would indeed help them find her!
But now, Assistant Barton was starting to worry.
Ever since realizing that Miss Irene was actually the Eighth Young Miss, both he and the Third Young Master had been overjoyed!
But Miss Irene's expression had remained calm, causing Assistant Barton to overthink.
