Chapter 200: Holt's Changing Moods
"I also don't agree with letting Alice take our sister's place!"
Itha, looking at the silent Gray, gritted his teeth and said, "You don’t understand. I almost died out there this time! And it was our sister who saved me! Do you even know what kind of life she lived after being abducted by traffickers as a child?"
"And here you are, worrying about a girl from a wealthy family having to work for a living? Our sister didn’t even have enough to eat when she was kidnapped! Do you know that? Did you ever care?"
The more Itha spoke, the more agitated he became. By the end, he was practically shouting.
Fortunately, the soundproofing in the private room at the town hospital was good; otherwise, a nurse would have come knocking long ago.
Gray finally let out a long sigh and said, "I never wanted Alice to take our sister's place. I’m also happy that our sister has come back, and I care about her too, but adopting Alice is a separate matter."
"It's been so many years, and you know how Mother feels about Alice, Itha."
Itha’s eyes turned red. Precisely because he knew, he felt even more for Irene.
That’s why Itha found the whole situation so unfair for Irene!
When Itha’s anger reached its peak, he became eerily calm. "Big Brother, don’t bring up Mother. I’m only asking you this: Do you truly care about our sister?"
Gray hadn’t intended for Alice to replace their sister. He only wanted a good atmosphere at home, and for their mother to stop crying every day. Although he truly loved Alice, he was also aware that their real sister hadn’t been found yet.
That was Gray's bottom line.
Even though Gray had no emotional connection with his biological sister due to their lack of time together, the bond of blood was something that couldn’t be severed.
He had agreed to adopt Alice because it was something their mother had requested.
Gray wasn’t opposed to it.
Even if Alice wasn’t the adopted daughter of the Norman family, Gray would still treat her like a sister. And if she were formally adopted into the family, she would simply become one more member, one more person to care for alongside his wife.
His brothers weren’t entirely wrong.
Gray, now more serious, said, "You can rest assured, in my heart, our sister is our sister, and Alice is Alice. They are not the same."
Hearing this, Itha finally stopped glaring at Gray.
Seeing the situation calming down, the other brothers quickly asked, "What happened? How did you almost die out there?"
Itha recounted the entire series of events.
When he looked up, he saw that his brothers' faces had turned red with anger.
Some of the more hot-tempered ones immediately stood up and looked around as if they were ready to grab a gun if McGregor and Klan were nearby.
Itha tried to calm them down, feeling a mix of amusement and warmth.
Rarely did Itha smile, but he did now. "Father said he would bring our sister back. When she returns, we can all stand by her."
Speaking of this, Itha’s expression darkened again. "Everyone in the capital knows that our sister was kidnapped! There will definitely be people who look down on her because of that!"
Second Brother, Okam Norman, nodded in agreement. "That's right. I’ll be done shooting my movie soon; we’re currently on location abroad. The news about Stefan's family calling off the engagement has spread far and wide. I’ve already heard whispers in the film industry. Palmer, you’re close to Stefan, so you should know something about this."
"This situation needs an explanation from Stefan. We can’t let our sister be treated unfairly."
"Even if the engagement is called off, it has to be our sister who initiates it."
"And this matter needs to be addressed with a formal ceremony."
Itha frowned. "What? Stefan wants to break off the engagement?"
Fourth Brother Tommy added, "Yes, Third Brother, you’re often away and might not know about this."
Itha raised an eyebrow. "And he still dares to seek out our sister?"
Something didn’t add up.
From what Itha had observed, Stefan and his sister didn’t seem entirely uninterested in each other. In fact, it seemed like the opposite—they appeared to be in a state of passionate love!
How could he talk about ending the engagement on one hand and then stick close to Irene on the other?
What did this mean?
Tommy frowned deeply. "What? Stefan went to see our sister? Everyone in the capital’s upper circles knows about his attempt to call off the engagement, and he still dared to approach her?"
Itha pursed his lips. "He claims our sister is his current girlfriend."
The group chat exploded.
"What?"
"Does he even know what he’s doing?"
As the brother closest to Stefan, Palmer suddenly found himself under heavy fire from his older siblings.
Meanwhile, Sixth Brother Holt, who had been unusually excited ever since learning that Irene was their sister, had already compiled a list of makeup artists and stylists he deemed talented.
He was just waiting for his sister to come home so these professionals could pamper her.
Dress her up beautifully.
Holt had also been busy searching for flights, planning to return home as soon as he finished filming.
As a makeup artist brushed his face, she complimented him, "Mr. Holt, your skin is truly remarkable—no pores or blemishes at all."
But Holt’s mind was entirely focused on his newly found sister.
He suddenly responded, "Really? Sister, do you know what young girls like these days?"
The makeup artist was stunned. Wait, what?
Did this top star just confess to liking someone in front of me? And he didn’t even try to hide his relationship?
The makeup artist glanced at the manager nearby.
What’s going on?
The manager had just put down his phone and was now staring at Holt in shock.
This was news to him too.
Seeing Holt grinning like a fool made the manager's teeth ache. Seriously.
Can’t you go a single day without causing trouble?
The manager couldn’t help but scream internally. Taking a deep breath, he asked, "What’s this about? Are you in a relationship?"
The makeup artist sensed trouble and quickly left the room.
Only the manager and Holt were left.
Holt, still grinning, replied, "No! It's for my sister!"
The manager sighed in relief.
That’s a relief.
Wait a minute! Sister?
The manager knew Holt's true identity.
Back when his cousin first introduced Holt to him, he had asked the manager to take good care of Holt. He didn’t have to be overly meticulous since the sixth young master of the Norman family didn’t rely on acting fees to live.
But to his surprise, it was precisely this laid-back attitude and the aura that comes from being born into wealth that endeared Holt to many fans, who praised him for being genuine.
He eventually became more and more popular.
The manager wanted to ask more, but Holt was too engrossed in his phone to pay him any attention.
So the manager left, intending to speak with the director to see if they could reschedule Holt’s scenes.
Judging by Holt’s demeanor, this might take a while.
