Chapter 25: Irene Takes Action
Hearing those words, Irene bolted out of the house like a gust of wind. Before Stefan could react, Irene was already gone.
She moved swiftly, grabbing a baseball bat from the gate as she passed by, causing Harper's eyelid to twitch.
That could be a lethal weapon...
The supermarket was just around the corner, and a crowd holding plastic bags had gathered at the entrance, watching the commotion.
"Did you hear? They say this old woman killed someone!"
"I know her. She's a good person; that can't be true."
"Why not?!"
"I heard something she did when she was younger. Now the victim's descendants are after her."
"What happened?"
"It seems she wrongly accused someone while solving a case."
"Oh dear, I once asked her to help find my cat, Mary! If I had known, I wouldn’t have asked her!"
"Isn’t that Mary just a cat?" Yuna scoffed. "And you didn't even pay her."
The crowd erupted in laughter.
Madame Kashi tightly clenched the plastic bag in her hand as she listened to the discussions around her.
Yuna rushed out, holding Madame Kashi's hand, trying to protect her and leave, but they were blocked by someone.
"This... old lady, this has nothing to do with you, right?" The person looked Yuna up and down, mocking her.
Yuna was furious. She wasn't that old!
Her face flushed with anger, and just as she was about to speak, the person turned to Madame Kashi with a cold smile, "No wonder you've gained weight. No one here knows about your vile deeds!"
He looked at Madame Kashi with contempt, "You still think you're the former Miss Arnold? And you even taught your granddaughter to sabotage Mr. Decker's business!"
Madame Kashi was about to leave with Yuna but stopped in her tracks upon hearing this.
She turned sharply, her expression fierce, "What did you say?"
The young man blocked Madame Kashi with his arms, looking down at her, "Seriously? At your age, playing dumb? It's obviously your idea. Don't think we don't know!"
Seeing Madame Kashi gritting her teeth, the young man laughed gleefully, "Aren’t you eager to attend the A-city detective competition? Despite all the nasty things you’ve done, Mr. Decker is generous and gave you a chance!"
He pulled out a delicate card and threw it at Madame Kashi.
The card slid down her chest and fell to the ground.
"Oh, looks like old age is slowing you down."
The young man stepped on the invitation with malice, "You’re old, so you should exercise more. Pick it up, or can’t you even do that?"
Before he could finish, he was suddenly shoved forward, falling heavily on his knees!
The force was strong.
Irene didn’t hold back, and the man was in too much pain to speak for a few seconds.
When he recovered, he glared back angrily, "Who dares to kick me! I'll make you pay!"
Irene’s anger had reached its peak, and she laughed.
She placed a foot on his shoulder, applying enough pressure that he couldn’t escape, causing him to scream in pain.
“FUCK! Do you know what you’re doing? I’ll call the police! You’ve violated my personal safety and health!”
Despite the cold sweat on his forehead, he kept talking.
Irene chuckled, still feeling she was being too lenient.
She applied more pressure, making the man shut his mouth immediately. He felt his shoulder joint dislocate! This little brat was serious!
Fine, I’ll beg for mercy now and deal with her later!
“Miss, let’s talk this out.”
“You can speak like a human?” Irene sneered, easing the pressure slightly.
The man thought, What a naive girl! Just wait until I get up.
But before he could act, Irene swept her foot, making him fall face-first into the dirt.
“Such disrespectful language. If you weren’t taught properly as a child, I’ll educate you today.”
Irene sneered as the man struggled up, seeing her as a demon disguised as a beauty.
Madame Kashi saw the man covered in dirt, his face and mouth bleeding, and said, “Irene, that’s enough.”
With so many people around, if someone called the police, it could negatively affect Irene.
Irene stared at the man, smiling, “Grandma, you don’t understand. To deal with people like this, you have to beat them until they submit for a peaceful life.”
“Oh! So it’s you!”
The man recognized Irene, his fear turning into mocking laughter, “You should apologize now! One old woman killed someone, and the young one scams people every day. A perfect match! When the police come, I’ll enjoy seeing you both jailed!”
Hearing him threaten Irene, Madame Kashi took a deep breath, her frail body trembling as she stood in front of Irene.
“Sari, you’re here for me. Leave my granddaughter out of this.”
Sari arrogantly stepped on the invitation again, “I’ve already delivered the invitation on Mr. Decker’s behalf! Whether you take it is your business!”
“What do you want?”
Sari spread his hands, “What? We had a sudden change of heart. Felt pity for you. Aren’t you eager to cling to the rich? Here’s your chance. Join us at the Mosinaghan mansion in four days.”
“But this time, don’t misjudge and harm others!”
Sari laughed arrogantly.
The murmurs around had subsided, but now they started pointing at Madame Kashi again.
Madame Kashi’s face turned pale, her hand gripping the cane trembling.
“Mosinaghan mansion?”
If she remembered correctly, Stefan’s surname was Mosinaghan.
Irene glared coldly at Sari, stepping forward. Sari’s face changed, and he instinctively stepped back.
Irene sneered, “Coward.”
Sari tried to charge forward, but seeing Irene’s fierce eyes, he hesitated and stopped.
The crowd booed.
Irene lightly kicked the invitation, sending it flying. She caught it gracefully with her fingers.
The scene defied Newton’s laws.
The onlookers gaped in astonishment. Was this magic?
“Go back and tell Decker to brace himself. We’ll be there in four days.”
Irene walked up, slapping the invitation on Sari’s face, smearing dust on him.
Sari was furious but didn’t dare act.
What if this crazy woman attacked again? Just wait!
Sari moved several meters away before regaining his arrogance, “Haha, Mr. Decker will be fine! You better come! We’ve prepared a gift for you!”
He sneered and left.
“Decker.”
Irene’s eyes followed Sari, her hair shading the chilling light in her eyes.
