Chapter 44: Scorpion? What Are You Doing Here?

The bodyguard hesitantly said, “Mr. Schneider, you've already let three beasts go.” A gunshot echoed nearby. Someone was being killed. Frank clenched his fists secretly, pretending to be indifferent, “Drive. This beast is too weak. I want the strongest prey!” The bodyguard said no more and started the car. Frank felt restless. As an FBI agent, he couldn’t ignore such atrocities. But now, he had to blend in. How could he save more innocent people without arousing suspicion? As he pondered, another gunshot rang out nearby. Frank's heart tightened. He ordered the bodyguard to stop the car and then walked into the jungle with his hunting rifle. The bodyguard, thinking Frank was finally starting to hunt, excitedly parked the car and followed him. Frank surveyed the surroundings. The gunshot had come from here. Meanwhile. Munster was excitedly digging a pit after searching the third hunter for bullets and guns. Nina stood by, arms crossed, her beautiful eyes looking down at Munster. She watched him hum a popular tune, bury the hunters’ clothes, and hide the still-warm bodies under rotting leaves. Frankly, Nina didn’t like this man. Despite his act of being helpless and incompetent, Nina had seen many like him. They acted like domesticated dogs when others were stronger, but as soon as the situation reversed, they showed their true colors. Nina indifferently looked up at the trees, counting the sunspots filtering through. She used him for hunting, and Munster used her to escape. It was mutual. At that moment, they heard footsteps. Nina and Munster exchanged a glance and hid behind a large tree. As the footsteps drew closer, they heard voices, two men speaking. One said, “It should be nearby. Look, there’s a leg!” The other replied, “Seems dead already. Let’s go.” Hearing this, Nina raised an eyebrow. Munster gestured to Nina, “Should we take them out? They’re close!” Nina shook her head. Munster stared at her in surprise, but Nina coldly met his gaze. Her beautiful eyes conveyed an unyielding refusal and command. Munster shrugged and lowered his weapon. Unexpectedly, one of the men suddenly shouted, “Who’s there? Come out now, or I’ll shoot!” Munster had to step out from behind the tree, raising his hands, “Hey, take it easy!” The bodyguard, seeing Munster’s attire, relaxed and asked, “Where’s your guest? Why are you alone?” As he spoke, he stared at Munster suspiciously, “Wait! There haven’t been any new arrivals. I know the ten guests. You’re not one of them! Who are you?” The bodyguard raised his gun, but before he could shoot, a bullet took his life. Behind Munster, Nina had drawn her pistol with lightning speed. Frank, Munster, and Nina stood with guns aimed at each other. In such a moment, continuing the disguise would cause unnecessary casualties. Frank thought for a moment, “Don't be rash. I'm a cop.” Munster screamed, “A cop?” He turned to Nina, “Is he your colleague?” Frank frowned, “What department are you from? I’ve never seen you.” He knew there were female colleagues, but as far as he knew, he was the only one on this undercover mission. Nina slowly lifted her face, her cheek smooth as a newborn in the sunlight, beautiful as a goddess, with bright green eyes fixed on him. A sly, relaxed smile appeared on her lips, “Hi, Frank. How’ve you been?” Frank looked at her in astonishment and wariness, his body tensing as if shocked, eyes locked on Nina, trying to see through the unfamiliar face to the soul inside. After a few seconds, Frank gritted his teeth, “Scorpion.” The subtle, teasing feeling, mixed with icy coldness, the husky, seductive voice, and a strange face… Only Scorpion could have countless faces that gave the FBI headaches! No one knew how she did it! Was it an Eastern technique or custom-made masks? Scorpion smiled, her face showing a sincerity that made the FBI want to punch her, “Oh dear, I didn’t expect us to cross paths again. How about we talk this out? Let me handle this?” Frank coldly replied, “No way.” Irene sighed, looking very disappointed. If there were other men present, they would surely blame Frank for making such a beautiful woman sad. “But I helped you recently, didn’t I? You got a promotion, thanks to me! You owe me one!” Irene said playfully. The young FBI agent’s face darkened, “I didn’t ask for your help.” Irene pretended to sigh, “Then I’ll have to knock you out and hide you until I’m done.” Munster’s expression was almost cracking. Scorpion! Everyone knew Scorpion! The woman at the top of the mercenary group! Her members were elite, monsters among millions! He looked at the fit woman, suspecting something special between her and the cop. She was always cold to him, like a statue! And full of killing intent! But as soon as the cop showed up, she came alive. Unbelievable! Frank coldly watched Irene and Munster exchange glances, refusing firmly, “I won’t surrender.” Irene smiled at the determined Frank. With two enemies, he stood no chance, risking his life. Frank was a cop; Irene knew he sensed Munster’s lethal vibe. Munster wouldn’t hesitate to kill. But Frank held his ground. A brave, righteous officer. Irene looked at Frank, dropping her teasing smile, “Why not team up again? Like last time. You need evidence, and I need to kill these bloodstained ‘hunters.’ We won’t interfere with each other. How about that?” Frank cautiously considered, “No, you’re not qualified.” Irene chuckled, “Why? Because I lack a badge and uniform?” She stared at the solemn agent, “I heard the FBI has fans of mine wanting to hire me. Too bad I have a whole team to support.” Frank angrily asked, “You have informants in the bureau?” Irene laughed, “Think about my offer. I don’t want us injured before the mission starts.”
