Chapter 77: Boss, Come Back With Us!
The secretary knew who to listen to now: "Boss, I’ll talk to you later."
Percy didn’t mind the small stuff; his main goal was to bring Irene back to the capital. “Boss, when do you plan to return?”
Irene, seeing the hopeful look in her subordinate’s eyes, smiled gently. “I can’t leave just yet. You see, things are just starting to pick up here.”
Percy pouted, somewhat envious. “Boss, you leave behind our multi-billion dollar assets to do this? Is this industry really that interesting?”
The secretary shared the same thought.
Leaving behind such a large corporation to manage a small business worth a few thousand dollars—was this the mindset of the wealthy?
Irene smiled faintly. “I trust in your abilities to ensure our assets don’t dwindle.”
Percy continued, “Boss, how about I stay here and work with you? You’re transitioning into the internet industry, right?”
Irene smiled again. “No, I just want to be a simple private detective.”
Percy quickly responded, “Then I’ll invest in this field! It’s been so long since we’ve done business together! A City looks promising. If you want to open an agency, I’ll invest!”
Before Irene could respond, a gentle and elderly female voice came from inside the house. “Irene, who are you talking to?”
Irene quickly walked inside and saw Madame Kashi was awake. She smiled and said, “Is it another big client looking for you?”
Irene nodded, helping her up. “Yes, a big boss is here to discuss investment.”
Given her age and life experience, Madame Kashi asked, “Is such a good thing possible?”
Percy heard her from a distance and said, “Your live stream is very popular online! Now is the best time for me to approach you. If you get even more famous, it won’t be just a bit of money we’re talking about.”
Madame Kashi discreetly observed Percy, smiling. “I see.”
She looked at his expensive, well-tailored suit and the luxury watch on his wrist, feeling quite satisfied.
He seemed wealthy.
Looking at Irene standing calmly beside them, Madame Kashi couldn’t help but worry. “How will you handle the investment? As you can see, this place is small, and I’m old, so it’s fine for me. But my granddaughter is kind and soft-hearted. What if problems arise during the collaboration?”
The secretary lowered his head, holding back laughter.
The boss, kind and soft-hearted?
How did she manage to control Percy then?
Percy’s mouth twitched.
This must be the grandmother’s filter.
He wished he could appear as harmless as possible, smiling, “Don’t worry, ma’am. I would never cheat your granddaughter.”
Madame Kashi shook her head. “No scammer admits to being a scammer beforehand.”
Moreover, the terms are so generous, it’s like they’re eager to give away money.
Percy felt helpless.
If the businessmen from A City saw this scene, they would be green with envy.
Seeing Percy looking particularly helpless, Irene smiled slightly. “No, Grandma. I saw this man on the news a few days ago, and Aunt Yuna recognized him too.”
Madame Kashi trusted the media and immediately smiled. “I see, I’m sorry for my rudeness.”
Percy had complained about the TV interview delaying his search for the boss, but now he saw it as the right decision.
“No problem, ma’am.” Percy, when pretending, could be quite gentlemanly.
Madame Kashi warmly said, “Stay for a meal!”
Percy instinctively looked at Irene, refusing, “No need, ma’am. I should be the one treating you to a meal.”
Irene took over, “It’s fine, Grandma. Don’t trouble yourself. I’ll take him to a restaurant.”
Madame Kashi nodded, “Yes, you should treat him to a restaurant meal!” To her, inviting someone to a restaurant was the highest form of hospitality.
However, she was still a bit uneasy and pulled Irene into the kitchen, whispering, “Is this man really trustworthy? He seems like he’s involved in the underworld.”
Though her voice was low, the kitchen door was glass.
For a mercenary, lip-reading was a basic skill.
Percy helplessly saw what Madame Kashi said.
You suspect me but not your granddaughter?
Your granddaughter is the real underworld boss here!
Irene smiled and turned back, giving Percy a warning look. “It’s fine, Grandma. This investor was introduced by Stefan. You know him, right? He has many wealthy friends.”
The elderly lady felt reassured.
Stefan was a good kid. If he recommended someone, it must be trustworthy!
Madame Kashi relaxed and brought out a plate of pumpkin cakes and tea.
After chatting for a while, it was time for lunch. Madame Kashi smiled and said, “Take Emma with you.”
Percy was confused about who Emma was.
Until a sleepy Emma walked out of the room, making Percy freeze and blurt out, “What is she doing here!”
Madame Kashi’s sharp eyes fixed on Percy. “You know Emma?”
Under Irene’s death glare, Percy awkwardly laughed, “No, no, I saw her when she was little.”
How could he not have seen her?
Percy was terrified.
Even facing Irene, he wasn’t this scared.
Irene was rational and would have a bottom line, but Emma was like an unchained mad dog, biting anyone without considering the consequences.
Madame Kashi pressed on, “Where did you see Emma when she was little?”
Finding Emma’s family had always been her wish.
She had already planned that if Irene continued to do well and become wealthy, and if Emma’s family couldn’t be found, she would leave her inheritance to Emma, knowing Irene wouldn’t mind.
Irene glanced at Percy.
Think carefully before you speak.
