Chapter 87: Stefan is Jealous

Tony looked at Irene as if he wanted to say something. He opened his mouth but then closed it again. Madame Kashi smiled and said, “I’ll go check on the snacks in the kitchen.” Irene looked at Tony, “What’s wrong?” Tony’s expression was somewhat serious as he said, “I’ve heard that you have deep expertise in psychology. I’d like to ask for your help in evaluating a situation.” Irene nodded, “Please explain in detail.” Tony said, “It’s like this: I have an aunt who is a few generations removed from me. Thirteen years ago, her lawyer contacted us, saying that all her direct relatives within three generations had passed away and that according to the laws of Country Y, we were responsible for her care.” “That’s understandable. We don’t mind taking care of her.” “My aunt reportedly suffered from domestic violence by her husband when she was young, leading to mental issues. She has been unable to take care of herself for many years. My aunt had a boyfriend when she got married, but her parents didn’t approve and forced her to marry the abusive man.” “When my aunt developed mental issues, the abusive husband abandoned her at home and left.” “It was a chaotic time, and such things were common. But recently, I’ve felt that something is off.” Tony frowned, “I got married a few months ago. Since my villa is close to the nursing home, my aunt moved in with us. After my wife moved in, she started noticing that many pieces of jewelry were missing. But when we checked the surveillance and the property management, we couldn’t find anything. Eventually, we saw a blurry figure entering my aunt’s room on the surveillance footage.” “Looking at my aunt’s crooked face, I found it hard to believe she did it.” “Not long after, we found out that the caregiver had been secretly selling the jewelry at a gold shop.” Tony sighed, “This should have been the end of it, but I still have a bad feeling, like someone is watching us with a fierce, sinister gaze.” Irene nodded, “I understand. To determine the exact situation, I’ll need to meet your aunt. You mentioned that she uses a wheelchair and has a crooked mouth and eyes. Has she seen a doctor?” Tony sighed, “Of course, we consulted the best doctors in Y City, and she’s taken a lot of medication, but nothing has worked.” Irene raised an eyebrow, “Bring your aunt here one day, and I’ll take a look.” Tony nodded, glancing at Stefan, wanting to say goodbye. It was almost ten in the evening, and it wasn’t gentlemanly to stay in a lady’s home so late. Stefan pretended not to notice. Tony was speechless. Madame Kashi brought out a plate of newly made snacks with a smile. She seemed to have cried in the kitchen, her eyes red and her expression not very happy. Irene watched Madame Kashi. When the old lady sat next to her, Irene took her hand and said, “Grandma, someone has come to our office. Let’s take out the contract.” Madame Kashi perked up, and Emma brought the contract. Tony signed it readily and generously offered a substantial sum as a gesture of goodwill to Stefan, a total of three million. Madame Kashi sat beside Irene, stroking her hair with a heartache. Irene comforted her, “Grandma, I’m fine. I won’t do this again next time.” Irene had indeed lost control today, and her headache from anger hadn’t flared up in a long time. Madame Kashi felt very sad. Irene had been stubborn since she was a child, never telling her anything to avoid worrying her. Only today did Madame Kashi find out that the couple had intended to marry Irene off to an old man! Madame Kashi comforted her, “It’s not your fault, child. It’s theirs.” Tony was making a phone call in the courtyard, while Stefan, keenly aware of the inconsistencies in their conversation, watched with his blue eyes flickering, sometimes calm, sometimes stormy. He sat quietly, listening until Madame Kashi and Irene mentioned the investor Percy, and then he spoke, “You agreed?” Irene raised an eyebrow and smiled, “I did.” Stefan frowned inwardly. He had wanted to invest before, but Irene had refused. Now, she accepted the so-called Mr. Percy’s investment… Stefan turned to Irene, his deep blue eyes reflecting the light like the sea, “Why didn’t you choose my investment?” Irene looked up, smiling mischievously, “You’re in the high-tech industry. It would be hard to explain to your board if you suddenly invested in this field, right?” This sounded reasonable. Stefan lowered his head to drink tea, his resentment almost palpable, making Madame Kashi give Irene a disapproving look. Such a naughty girl, bullying him like that. Harper shrank back, sensing Stefan’s displeasure. When Tony finished his call and returned, he looked at Stefan with a strange expression. Is this the power of love? Turning a cold-hearted man into someone so sensitive? Irene then asked Tony, “Mr. Tony, where will you be staying tonight?” Tony easily detected the hint to leave in her words and smiled as he bid farewell. As he turned, he saw Stefan smirking, his side profile not fully visible, but his good mood was evident. Irene smiled softly, looking at Stefan with a tender and proud gaze. Tony felt a bit dizzy for some reason. After saying goodbye, he quickly left. The room and courtyard filled with romantic bubbles were almost unbearable. Tony got into his luxury car and called his wife. Hmph, it’s not like I’m single! Holding his phone, Tony pondered for a moment and then laughed. Does Mr. Norman know about Stefan’s relationship? He probably doesn’t. This is big news. If it gets out, it will be sensational. Those girls dreaming of marrying Stefan will be heartbroken. After Tony left, Madame Kashi looked at Stefan, smiling as she prepared to ask questions. When Irene returned home after seeing Tony off, she saw this scene. She immediately felt nervous, knowing she had asked Stefan to pretend to be her boyfriend. She smiled and tried to stop Madame Kashi, but the old lady stopped her. “Hey, Irene, don’t speak yet. Would you tell the truth if Grandma asked you? He’s already here as a guest. What’s wrong with Grandma talking to him?” Madame Kashi’s wise eyes twinkled.
