Chapter 92: Stefan and the Dark Organization

While driving, Harper pondered various things, not noticing that Stefan's gaze had settled on him. Stefan's smiling eyes gradually turned calm. He clasped his hands together and said softly, "When do you plan to tell Mr. Norman, Harper?" Instinctively, Harper replied, "When Mr. Norman asks me, um..." Seeing the fear in Harper's eyes, Stefan sneered, "What are you afraid of? Do you think you’ve hidden it well?" Harper didn't dare make a sound. "I know you’ve been reducing contact with Mr. Norman." Stefan leaned back in his seat, his gaze indifferent. "If you were an enemy, or if you hadn't shown loyalty after all this time working under me, you would have disappeared long ago." Sweat began to form on Harper's forehead. His hands slipped, causing the car's tires to swerve sharply. "Drive properly." After a moment, Harper asked in a trembling voice, "Boss, what should I do when Mr. Norman asks?" "Just tell the truth." Stefan pulled out a tablet and began reviewing company documents. Harper's voice grew smaller, "What is the truth? Boss, forgive my, uh, boldness, but are you and Ms. Irene really in a relationship?" Stefan paused. Are we really? Harper, sensing Stefan's prolonged silence, added, "It’s just that Ms. Irene said you're not really together yet." Stefan's calm eyes instantly turned icy. He pressed his lips together, his expression becoming cold and hard, "Is that what she said?" Harper, still tense, answered cautiously, "At least that’s what she said before you talked to Madame Kashi." Stefan smiled. Then there's no problem. Before talking to Madame Kashi, they indeed weren't real. But now, everything is different. Stefan gave another instruction. "Boss, do you have any orders?" asked his assistant, Walter. Stefan looked at his luxury car and said, "Go buy a more ordinary car." The car slowly entered the Mosinaghan mansion, where a row of black-clad bodyguards stood at the entrance. Harper opened the car door for Stefan. Stefan adjusted his coat over his suit and stepped out elegantly. In that moment, his presence was overwhelming. Though not as physically imposing as the bodyguards, he wasn't overshadowed by them at all. This side of him had never been shown to Irene. If you had to ask why, it was probably a man’s intuition. Irene didn't like overly dominant men. Assistant Walter asked again, "Boss, will a car around 100,000 be okay?" Stefan nodded. Walter didn't ask further and went off to buy the car. Previously, due to meddling in the boss's affairs, Walter had been warned by Stefan. Walter knew Stefan's temper well. Mistakes might be forgiven the first time, but if the same issue arose again, Stefan wouldn't hesitate to fire or deal with the person. Walter was very satisfied with his current job and didn't want to be fired. Meanwhile, after sending Stefan away, Irene hadn't gone to sleep. She connected to the dark web and began gathering information. If she remembered correctly, that symbol was the emblem of a large dark organization's "private army." This organization was involved in human trafficking, drugs, arms dealing, and also ran legitimate financial institutions, educational organizations, and companies used for money laundering. But did it have anything to do with Stefan? Stefan's combat skills weren't great, Irene knew that well. He also didn't have any psychological issues; in fact, Irene thought Stefan was mentally healthier than she was. But the scar on his body was definitely from removing a tattoo. The tattoo she saw matched the upper part of the emblem perfectly. Irene’s slender fingers tapped the desk lightly, and then her lips curled into a smile, "So, could the deceased Teo Baker have been connected to that dark organization?" Things were certainly getting more interesting. Irene had heard of that dark organization before. In her previous life, they had invited her to join, but she preferred her freedom and declined. After that, they maintained a cooperative relationship when necessary (for punishing bad people), and otherwise, she would turn them in to the authorities. Irene pondered for a moment, then destroyed all the gathered information. Meanwhile, at the Kashi mansion, Helen and Mr. Kashi called the family doctor as soon as they returned. After tending to their wounds and receiving comfort from their beloved daughter Joanna, they went to bed. Lying down, they both gasped in pain. They hadn’t realized how much it hurt until they lay down. Helen, frustrated, sat up and furiously beat the pillows against the bed and walls, "I told you! We should never have shown her any kindness! Look at what she's doing now! She won't be satisfied until she destroys our home!" Mr. Kashi lay still, pain radiating through his body. He looked lost. The biggest blow wasn’t Irene attacking him but Madame Kashi treating him as if he were invisible. Could it be that his mother really didn’t want to care about him anymore? In the past, no matter how angry she was, she would always care for him. Helen, her eyebrows raised in anger, snapped, "Normally, I wouldn't speak to you like this, but now I can’t hold back. We’re being bullied like this, and you’re softer than mud! Are you even a man?" Mr. Kashi didn't respond as usual. Instead, he seriously said, "Don’t you think Mother has changed?" Helen scoffed, "Yes, she's changed! Now that she has money, she thinks she’s something special, flaunting it around!" Seeing Helen's vicious expression, Mr. Kashi couldn't help but warn her, "Don't do anything rash. She's still my mother, and if we handle this poorly, it will affect the company’s stock." Helen began to cry and shout, "I’m overstepping? I’m being rash? Wasn't it her actions that led to someone's suicide? She’s held onto the company's power for so long. If it weren't for me, do you think she would willingly hand over the company to you?"
