“Yes?” I pause at the sound of Alpha Keith's voice, turning back with a raised brow.
My hand is already on the doorknob. I don't turn fully.
Just enough to show I heard him.
He doesn't look at me. His gaze flicks toward the bedroom, landing somewhere behind me.
“Gamma Stephen cleared out the bank vault this afternoon,” he says, voice still low and rough from earlier. “The bride price is there. Your documents and the safety deposit box key are on the table.”
I follow his line of sight and spot my ID and a small silver key resting neatly on the coffee table.
They're arranged with military precision—like everything else in this house. Nothing here is accidental.
I walk over and pick up my ID card without a word.
“Take the key too,” he adds, still not looking my way.
Still keeping distance. Still speaking like this is a business transaction.
