Alexander sat down at the desk, glancing up slightly.
Bernard knew exactly what Alexander meant. The Mason family's collaboration was still in Prescott's hands—obviously not something he could afford to ruin.
"My wife was out of line," Bernard admitted with a sigh. "She caused trouble for Miss Kaiser. I'll pay her a visit and apologize properly. No need to take it too seriously. She's badly hurt, too."
He let out another breath. Vanessa's life had been spared, but at this point, it looked like she'd be spending the rest of her days in a wheelchair.
"Really? A visit to apologize? Funny, from where I stand, it seems like the Mason family's doing just fine on their own. Maybe it's time we pressed pause on our little partnership," Alexander said calmly, like business deals were child's play.
Most people had no idea, but Alexander saw the cracks clearly. The Mason company was bleeding money. If this deal didn't patch things up, the entire family business would be in serious trouble.
