Just when everyone was waiting to see Elizabeth make a fool of herself, a faint breath escaped from Old Mrs. Mason on the bed. No one even noticed what Elizabeth did—her medical pouch was already packed, and she had quietly stepped aside.
"Get her a cup of warm water. She'll be fine in a moment," she said coolly.
"Yes, yes, right away!" The servant who had been attending Old Mrs. Mason rushed off, then carefully helped her drink the water.
"Thanks. Didn't expect you knew medicine," Edward leaned over, speaking softly to Elizabeth.
She didn't respond, just watched everyone chatting happily and was about to leave when Old Mrs. Mason's voice, weak but clear, called out, "Elizabeth, dear."
"My grandma's calling you!" Edward quickly grabbed her hand to stop her, feeling a strange twinge of regret that she was walking away.
Elizabeth pulled her hand back without hesitation, clearly not fond of unnecessary contact.
"Where else do you feel unwell, Madam?"
"Nowhere, actually. I feel much better
