Helen looked just as shocked as I was. She quickly pulled her hood lower and turned her face away.
"You've got the wrong person."
I almost laughed. "Even if you turned to ash, I'd still recognize you."
I grabbed her arm before she could escape. "You said you were abroad. What are you doing here?"
Just a few days ago, during that phone call with Mom and Dad, I had clearly heard the airport announcements in the background. So why was Helen standing in front of me?
If she'd been in town this whole time, why had our parents practically turned the Jewel City upside down looking for her?
Helen understood that she couldn't lie her way out and finally gave in. "Where I go is none of your business. You don't own this pharmacy. Why can't I be here?"
