“What?!” Samantha Quin’s eyes flew open. She yanked the quilt away and tried to get off the bed. “Where is he? I need to see him!”
A sharp wave of dizziness hit her like a truck, and she collapsed back onto the bed, her muscles trembling and uncooperative.
Alexander Perkins frowned, lips tight. “Caitlin Jordan, are you trying to kill yourself? Do you have any idea how long you’ve been unconscious?”
“If it weren’t for Vincent Lee, I wouldn’t just be unconscious!” Samantha stared at him, voice calm but insistent. “Alexander, I’m begging you this once. Let me see him.”
“I’ll take you.” Before Alexander could respond, Nicholas Perkins jumped in.
He pulled the wheelchair closer, patted his thighs, and said, “Come on, sit here. I’ll take you down to see Vincent.”
“No way. She needs to rest,” Alexander snapped, eyes darkening.
“She’ll never get better lying here worrying like this,” Nicholas retorted coldly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
