Chapter 22

Harper's cries were so loud that they echoed through the door. Selene rushed in, only to almost bump into Carter, who was exiting the room. Carter just looked at her. "Let's talk. The nurses can stay with her for now." In the lounge at the end of the corridor, Carter looked at Selene with mixed feelings. "Why did you cheat on me, Selene?" When he first found out about her infidelity, it plagued him. He wondered if it was his fault, or if it was something else, or if she had other reasons. No matter how hard he thought about it, he still couldn't understand why she had cheated on him. If she was tired of him and simply didn't love him anymore, she could've just told him. Why did she have to cheat on him with Adrian? He didn't understand why. Selene froze. She had imagined how their conversation would go, but she hadn't expected him to start with this question. How was she supposed to answer? It'd been too long. She had forgotten why she had cheated on him in the first place. Howe
