Delilah had been ready to keep pushing Jasmine to return to the Ford residence until she heard how Jasmine had spent the last three years.
She'd always assumed that Calvin's devotion meant that Jasmine lived comfortably there. It had never crossed her mind that Jasmine had suffered constant mistreatment.
All this time, Delilah had been so sure that Jasmine and Calvin should remarry. But now, for the first time, that certainty wavered.
Jasmine caught the doubt flashing across Delilah's face. She simply smiled and let the silence settle between them.
She knew that Delilah wouldn't believe her if she said too much at once. She figured that it was better to let out the pain of her past little by little. That way, Delilah might finally see why she was so set on ending her marriage.
After dinner, Jasmine went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Delilah, never one to sit around, decided to take out the trash and go for a walk to settle her stomach.
