Kieran's gaze gleamed with amusement at Lila's surprise. "Let's go. Time for your checkup." Lila nodded, slowly chewing the dried fruit. She was glad today's examination didn't require her to fast. Otherwise, Kieran would be in an awkward position. The tests scheduled were simple, so she didn't have to wake up too early. It just so happened that Chad was on duty. "I'm running low on one of my prescriptions and forgot to ask Dr. Tanner if I needed a refill. Could you check for me?" Even Lila found her excuse strange.
