"I got it."
Camila Harrington gave a quick reply. She rested the gun on her thigh, then leaned over to rummage through Emma Fletcher’s bag and pulled out her phone. "Emma, hand," she said, holding out the phone.
Emma freed up her right hand and tapped her middle finger on the fingerprint sensor. "Unlocked?"
"Yep." Camila nodded, quickly scrolling through the contacts until she found Sullivan Fletcher’s number and hit call.
No service.
Time was ticking. Camila immediately hung up and dialed Jared Fletcher instead. Same result—out of service area.
"What’s wrong?" Emma asked, noticing Camila’s face tighten. She had a bad feeling rising in her chest. "Camila, don’t tell me both their phones aren’t working?"
"Neither’s got signal," Camila replied, her voice heavier this time.
"Seriously? Of all times, both my uncle and Jared decide to vanish?" Emma slammed a hand on the steering wheel, frustrated. "Try calling my dad instead. Maybe he—BOOM!"
She didn’t get to finish. Machine gunfire tore in
