The shopping mall was crowded, with chattering voices and footsteps echoing from all directions.
The moment Elaine looked over, Skylar seemed to have noticed someone looking at him. He instantly turned his head and met her gaze.
He was in a wheelchair and looked much thinner and paler than before, like a ghost of the man he once was. His once cold eyes carried a deep exhaustion. But the moment he saw her, his gaze shifted from shock and disbelief to bewilderment and desperation.
