Chapter 100
Water splashed everywhere.
Then, the flames vanished, and Lacey went deathly still. Only a few burned fragments of her dress floated across the surface of the pool.
The garden was filled with the scent of scorched fabric and rising steam.
Nadia finished the last piece of meat on her plate.
The show was over. She clapped her hands lightly in satisfaction and dabbed at her mouth with a napkin.
Callum watched her, his gaze complicated. Nadia never let a grudge go. When she struck back, she did it with precision and flair. He had to admit it was oddly intriguing.
The butler was already shouting orders, directing two men amongst the household staff members to pull Lacey from the water.
She was soaked from head to toe, her dress completely gone except for a small pair of underpants beneath. Much of her hair and eyebrows were singed, and her legs were covered in fresh burns. She sat trembling on the ground, her eyes unfocused, looking utterly wrecked.
