Chapter 40
Nadia paused and looked at Julian like he had come from another planet.
What made him think Callum cared about her? Hadn't Callum and Brittany already been all over each other? Was Julian blind?
With observation skills like that, he wouldn't even make it past probation if he worked for her.
"I want to show you a video," Julian said.
He opened the car door and pulled out a tablet, just about to play the footage of the champagne tower, when a sharp voice roared from the second floor.
"Julian! Get in here!"
"Coming!" Julian called back, then turned to her. "Mrs. Ford, could you wait just a second?"
Nadia didn't have the time or the interest to entertain him any further. She called a driver and left.
From the second-floor balcony, Callum stood silently, watching her figure disappear through the front gate.
That strange, heavy feeling in his chest only grew worse.
Back at her apartment, Nadia set the small travel bag down by the entryway.
She stood alone in the quiet room.
