For a moment, Callum froze. His mind went completely blank.
He quickly helped her up and asked in a low voice, "Did you hurt yourself?"
Seeing her flushed face, he felt an odd flutter in his chest. Something warm stirred unexpectedly, soft and unfamiliar.
Nadia wanted to dig a hole and hide in it.
To mask the awkwardness, she raised her voice and snapped, "Callum, what the hell is wrong with you? Are you seriously planning to keep me locked up here?"
Gripping the handrail, she forced herself to stand. Her ankle throbbed sharply, but her tone remained firm and unyielding.
"Why did you block all the signals in this place? Do you really think this ridiculous Franhill Manor can trap me?"

"I thought something serious had happened," he said calmly, without a flicker of emotion.
