Carson refused to admit it. If he did, all those years of revenge would look like nothing more than a pathetic joke.
Isaiah knew him too well and understood the thoughts running through his mind. "Carson, you're such a coward. If I were Miranda, I'd leave you too."
He had no energy left to argue with Carson. He shoved Carson aside, grabbed his coat, and walked off.
The nearby waiter watched cautiously, too afraid to intervene.
Carson sank to the floor, his eyes blank and unfocused, fists pounding against his chest. He had hated Miranda for five years, convinced she had betrayed him.
But now, it all felt like a cruel joke. Miranda had done so much for him, and what had he given in return? Nothing but cruelty. No wonder she had walked away. He deserved it.
Then it hit him. Miranda's attitude had started to change the day she came back from the hospital.
Carson grabbed his phone and pulled up the surveillance footage from that afternoon. There she was, standing at the doorstep
