Miranda clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. A bitter laugh escaped her lips.
"Carson, you're ruthless. What's the point of all this?" she demanded.
Carson caught the flicker of fear in her eyes, and a faint smile tugged at his lips. "To marry you."
She stared at him, bewildered. "I'm already married. I have a husband."
"Mimi, you don't need to keep bringing up your marriage. I don't have the best temper, and hearing it all the time only frustrates me. When I'm frustrated, the kids end up paying the price. Come with me. Marry me in three days, and I'll let the kids go."
Carson's patience had run out. He gave Miranda one final warning. "Mimi, you've had plenty of time to decide. If you say no, I won't force you."
He turned to leave, but her body went rigid. "Fine," she snapped. "I agree. But you release my kids first!"
