Chapter 144
Of course Celestia knew exactly who she meant.
Ever since that argument at the Carringtons', Sophia had totally refused to call him by name anymore. Instead, she'd started referring to him as "the tyrant."
Celestia gave a small shake of her head, forcing herself not to let the disappointment show. "No, he's caught up with some work today." Still, even trying to keep it neutral, a faint bitterness crept into her smile.
The second Sophia heard Jareth wasn't coming, her face dropped. "Seriously? What on earth could be more important than your birthday? He hasn't changed one bit. Still as freaking cold as ever."
She'd honestly thought he'd mellow out a little now that Celestia was pregnant-but nope. Same old Jareth.
Celestia rushed to defend him, not wanting Sophia to get worked up. "It's not like that. He really does have something going on. And... I didn't even tell him today's my birthday. To be honest, he's been way better lately. Just yesterday he came with me to do a maternity shoot.
