Seeing Sophia go quiet, Celestia felt her chest tighten even more. It took her a while to get the words out: "I'm sorry." Her mind was just as messy as Sophia's, if not worse. She had no idea whether she'd fallen for Jareth or not-she couldn't even figure herself out.
"What are you apologizing to me for? The one you really owe an apology to is yourself," Sophia said softly, her eyes filled with sympathy as she looked at Celestia. This whole mess started because of Jareth-and now she was in even deeper. Feelings were such unpredictable things.
Sophia didn't want the mood to get heavier, so she raised an eyebrow and changed the subject. "Forget that. No point beating yourself up. By the way, have you heard from any of our old classmates lately?"
Celestia followed her lead and easily let the weight of the earlier conversation slip away.
