Chapter 10
I stood on top of the tall building belonging to the White Moon Pack, looking down at our territory through the massive floor-to-ceiling window.
John stood behind me, fidgeting with his phone, head down and nervous sweat forming at his temples.
I could hear him tapping away at the screen for what felt like forever, but nothing happened. My impatience started bubbling up.
"Alpha, Miss Miller isn't picking up," John finally reported, his voice a little shaky.
I turned around slowly, my patience wearing thin bit by bit.
Frustrated, I let some of my Alpha presence leak out, eyes locking sharply onto John.
He stiffened, then dropped to his knees, trying hard to show how loyal he was.
I stared at him for a few seconds before saying coldly, "Keep trying."
"Ella never skips out on me. She's always here before meetings," I muttered more to myself than to him.
John, sweating even more now, didn’t stop what he was doing.
Maybe sensing I’d reined in my aura, he carefully offered, “Maybe she’s sick
