After classes, Ivy and Ame stepped outside together. But on their way out, they ran into Joe. Ivy tried to pass him, but he stopped her.
“Joe, who’s this guy?” Ame asked, narrowing her eyes.
“I need to talk to Ivy,” Joe said calmly. “Could you give us a moment?”
Ame glanced at Ivy for approval. Ivy blinked, giving her the signal to step aside.
As Ame backed away, Joe stepped closer and lowered his voice. “Ivy,” he said.
She stayed silent.
“I’m sorry,” he said at last.
“I don’t want to talk about this,” Ivy replied, her tone firm.
“I know you won’t,” he said. “But I still want to say it. I’m sorry for what I did. I lost control. We’ve been friends since childhood… we’re even family, and—”
“Stop right there, Joe,” Ivy interrupted. “You don’t have to say anything else. I forgive you. Now I’m leaving.”
“Wait, Ivy,” he said quickly. “Do you really love him?”
She paused and turned to look at him. “Yes. I love Aaron.”
Joe lowered his head. “What about your family? Will they ever agree?”
