CHAPTER 4 As we walked up to the enormous double doors, I was in awe. They were made of a deeply dark brown wood with gigantic glass panes and were covered with intricate wrought iron. They swung open as if they knew we were coming. The grand foyer seemed as though it was filled with gold as the light flood out to where I stood. There were two stairways making almost a full circle going up to a second floor. Golden railings wrapped them all the way up with a black carpet covering their steps. Everything seemed so surreal. There were four people at beautiful dark wooden tables adorned with the most exquisite masks I’d ever seen. A shorter woman with fiery red hair, wearing nothing more than silver body paint and a mask covered in silver and gold leaves that must have been taken from a magical realm of the gods. The mask covered everything but her entrancing emerald eyes that glowed with a deep green fire. Looking at me, she said with a haunting smile, “I have the perfect mask for you.”
