Chapter 636
Miles's place.
After Beckett's incident, Madeleine had been swamped with work, and James was barely home until late.
For once, the apartment was finally quiet. Miles sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, sipping his wine in peace.
Just as he was about to dive into a book, the door clicked.
He rubbed his forehead—had to be James; only he would mess up the password three times before getting in.
"This password of yours is insane," James muttered as he walked in. "What's your deal? Just add my fingerprint already. Sick of begging you for a temporary code every time."
Miles ignored him, glancing at the time. For James, this was actually early.
"You just sit here in silence all day? No wonder you're single—so dull," James said, shooting him a look as he flopped onto the couch, obviously annoyed.
Miles, patient as ever, let him ramble, though mentally he was already going through ways to shut him up for good.
"You eaten yet?" James asked, randomly in a better mood, even humming as he moved.
