Victoria's apartment.
Aiden sat quietly beside her, dutifully massaging her calves.
The police had already wrapped up their investigation and left. Oscar Nelson was probably still sitting at the station, eyes swollen from crying.
Megan wasn't slacking either—she poured Victoria a glass of water like a diligent little helper, and by the looks of it, she'd be fanning her next.
"Can you two not be so extra?" Victoria rubbed her temples, clearly overwhelmed.
"Victoria, you're so cool. Are you in need of a girlfriend?" Megan threw the line out boldly, not even trying to hide that she was gunning for Aiden's spot.
Victoria leaned back on the couch and gave her a helpless look.
Aiden shot Megan a glare, voice low and moody. "You think I've lost my edge or what?"
Megan, part nervous, part defiant, answered, "Let's keep it fair."
"Do me a favor—head to the bathroom, look in the mirror and then ask yourself again if we're really on the same level," Aiden shot back like a sulky teenager ready for
