The corneal transplant surgery went smoothly. At least, when Jacqueline woke up again, one of her eyes could no longer see anything.
William spoke with concern from her bedside. "Now that it's come to this, don't go back to the war zone. Let me go in your place."
Jacqueline shook her head gently. "There's no point in my staying here, and they still need me over there. Don't worry. Even if I can only see with one eye, my medical skills remain the same. Besides, I'll have assistants."
Seeing how determined she was, William shook his head helplessly. "I'll go prepare for the surgery, then."
