Liam's expression had darkened halfway through her explanation. "Were you alone when it happened?"
"Yeah, I was by myself," Wendy said, thinking he was worried about the car. She quickly added, "It was just a minor scratch. I've already sent it in for repairs."
"Does James know about this?"
The sudden mention of that name caught her off guard. It took her a moment to respond.
"No, I didn't tell him. We're already—"
She stopped herself. She couldn't exactly announce the divorce just yet, not with so many familiar faces around.
Liam's face instantly turned cold. "It doesn't matter, as long as you're okay. The car doesn't matter to me compared to you."
Then, he pulled out his phone. "Hang on. I need to make a call."
Wendy nodded, watching as he stepped aside. Still, she couldn't help but feel a little guilty.
Even though the car had been a gift from Liam, she never really saw it as her own. In her heart, it still felt like it belonged to him.
