Chapter 284
Clara still held the knitting needles tightly in her hands. Wren carefully took the needles from her grasp and set them aside. He then pulled the blanket over her, tucking the corners in gently.
As he gazed at her peaceful face, a hint of tenderness appeared in his eyes. He softly brushed a stray lock of hair from her cheek and whispered, "Goodnight, Clara."
He turned off the main light, leaving only a small lamp glowing softly in the room.
Perhaps it was the medication, but Clara was sleeping deeply and didn't stir at all.
Wren stood by her side for a moment, quietly watching her. Just as he was about to leave, his eyes drifted to the half-finished scarf on the table.
He remembered Clara mentioning that she wanted to give it to one of her students, which is why she had spent the entire day working on it.
She was being discharged tomorrow and would be heading back to work at school. If Clara saw the scarf unfinished while she was asleep, she would probably feel disappointed.
