CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN – COPARENTING IS HARD
"And I'm her father," Logan shot back, his voice rising. "Why is it that every time I try to have input on how we raise our daughter, you shut me down?"
"Because you haven't been here!" Deonna exploded. "You weren't there for the midnight feedings, or the colic, or the first steps. You can't just waltz in now and expect to have an equal say!"
Logan felt as if he'd been slapped. "That's not fair, Deonna. I'm here now. I'm trying to make up for lost time. Why can't you see that?"
"Because I'm scared!" Deonna shouted, tears streaming down her face. "I'm scared that you'll leave again, that you'll hurt Kayla like you hurt me. I can't let that happen."
The silence that followed was deafening, broken only by a clap of thunder and Kayla's frightened cry from the other room.
Logan took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of emotions within him. "Deonna," he said quietly, "I know I've made mistakes. Huge, unforgivable mistakes. But I am not that man anymore. I love Kayla more than anyt
